Terrific second from Portland quintet
Reckoned to be next to get attention across the pond following The Shins, Spoon and Menomena, Shaky Hands have adopted a punky post-Wipers template, but show off a structural savvy and multi-instrumental panache along with their punk-pop energy. “Lunglight” is admirably difficult to pin down, odd overtones of Talking Heads due more to Nick Delffs’ reedy voice than any punk-funk sympathies. There’s plenty to fall for here, but the anguished, bongo-driven “Love All Of” is especially irresistible.
